The Great Giveaway Day

This Giveaway is now Closed

Hi everyone, i'm sure most of you will have headed over here from Sew Mama Sew and their wonderful Giveaway day post (although I do have some great followers so a big hi to you too). I know you are going to be frantically jumping from post to post looking at all the amazing giveaways so I will keep this short and sweet

My giveaway is

A pretty pouch inspired by this lovely make from the talented VeryKerryBerry, it measures 8.5 x 9 so will hold quite a lot, I would use it for my sewing trinkets but you may have an entirely different purpose in mind!

To enter leave me a comment telling me what you want from a crafting/sewing/quilting blog, what makes you return time after time and become a follower? You don't need to be a follower to enter though, I only want people to become followers if they like what they see, I certainly don't want to force your hand!

My lovely followers will get a second chance. Just leave a separate comment telling me you are a follower. Of course if you are a new follower then this will include you too.

This is open to international entries, winner to be drawn randomly and notified by email.

I have a second giveaway going on here, so head on over and check it out

In order to try to entice you back when you have a little more free time then here is a mosaic of some recent makes

And here is a little taster of what to expect from 2012:
Tutorials
Free pattern downloads
Hopefully a fabric swap
More on my quest to design and produce my own fabrics
As well as lots of makes and titbits on my life and the big move we are hoping to make from England to Australia

Thanks for visiting and hope to see you back here in the future, good luck.  Now head over to Sew Mama Sew for all of those giveaways!

Nice work!

There's so many great blogs that I see that I like, but to have time to read them all is just impossible. I suppose a sense of humour in the writing style helps. Lots of pictures so I can see what you've been working on... hope that helps!

Becky McNeill said...

I tend to be drawn to bright colors and an uncluttered blog. Then once I'm there, I look for projects that I can easily recreate and an easy laid-back writing style. If I can imagine myself being friends with the blogger then I'm much more likely to come back time and time again:) LOVE this not-so-little pouch and am already planning things to fill it with:)

Things that draw me back to a craft blog are: someone with an eye for colour & design that give me inspiration for how to put fabrics together; little tips to make crafting easier; sharing of resources (eg favourite sources of supplies, pattern or book reviews and recommendations) and a genuine sharing of the crafting journey (trials, tribulations, someone who keeps it real). Hope you enjoy your move Down Under! Where are you hoping to move to?

Anonymous said...

This is an adorable little pouch...full of character!
What makes me return to a blog? Inspiration! I love to be inspired by the creativity and amazing imaginations of others. I can only hope that someday I can do the same as I am just getting started with my first blog.
Have a happy day!

Libby said...

Great tutorials and things explained in layers (for instance, linking back within a tutorial to another tutorial for how to do a more basic step.. like sewing knits or hemming or putting in a zipper.) I like things that I can understand on my most fuzzy brained of days !

I really like the fabrics you used. I like craft/quilt blogs that have good clear pictures, a tutorial every now and then, and good tips. Thank you for the chance!

The blogs I like have a variety of sewing projects (not just quilts or totes). I like to have a regular posting. The blogs that do not post frequently loose my interest. This is silly, but I like my crafty blogs to be very clean and simple to navigate. Not too much going on in the sidebars. That being said, once I decide to follow I just use Google reader, so the design doesn't matter anymore...

Super cute bag. I can ALWAYS use another zippy pouch!

Such beautiful fabrics. Wow. I'm in awe.

I'm such a brand new, novice sewer that I'm not sure I know what it takes to make a successful blog. I guess for me, really clear instructions on starter projects would be helpful. Something that someone who has no clue about the basics and no one locally to ask would be the best. I find that too many tutorials and such assume you already know how to do most steps and that's just not true for me. Clear pictures help.

Anyway, thanks for the chance to win!

Jessica said...

Lots of pictures always makes me happy! I also like a clean, uncluttered space, that is bright and cheery. I absolutely hate flasing advertisments and buttons on blogs - I find them too distracting and never click on them.

I also like when people talk about themselves and their life on their blog - I don't want to see just endless pictures of churned out projects. I want to feel some sort of a connection with the blogger.

Ok, so I'm new here but like what I've seen so far. I am drawn to blogs with simple home pages, bright color contrast pictures and a single topic per post. My favorite thing is to see a post, like it and be able to sit down and copy it right away. Details about how you made your craft (tutorials are great!) and pictures of the process.... And I like to feel like I'm getting to know the author so keep it real :) I'm sure you'll do great. Good idea to ask your readers this stuff. Best of luck to you (and to myself, if I may - I'd love to win the pouch!) elif(at)bellsouth(dot)net

I'd love to hear the truth as you know it. To share your experience of life and how you are grappling with what happens in your world. What makes me return to a blog are two things, really:
- a crisp and bright layout with good pictures
- a writer who looks at the world with a sense of wonder, curiosity and good-hearted fun

And then, it doesn't even matter so much whether it's about crafting or cooking or life's observations - it just sort of makes the moment :-)
