Reading has taken over - Temporarily!

I have always loved reading, as a child, I would climb into the attic, sit on the chaise lounge that was up there and read for hours. I would stay up half of the night if I had a good book and be tired for school the next day. But I loved it, I loved getting engrossed in a different world, in a wonderful story.

When I had the boys I didn't have time for reading, and when I got back into sewing I certainly didn't even have a spare minute because as soon as the boys were asleep or entertained with something else then I was sewing or blogging or reading blogs

I am still sewing but as I dont have the internet at home at the moment then much less of my time is taken up with keeping up with things online. I do have my iphone that keeps me from being totally out of the loop thank goodness. This all means that I have finally found some time for reading again.

I thought I would tell you what Ive been reading recently as I have read some really good stuff. Im not going to write reviews or give you loads of info on them, but I thought I would give you a list of what I have read and a brief description so if you fancy reading some stuff you can go look them up on Amazon (I bought all of these on Amazon, for my kindle app on my iphone, most of them were really cheap, some were free!)

It started with the Hunger Games Trilogy, im sure you have read them, Im sure I was the last person to discover these, my sister was telling me to read them for ages. They were brilliant, I loved them

I then read Prophecy, this is also a trilogy about vampires and werewolves and really enjoyable. The author F.E Heaton has written more that are in this series. I read the 5th in the series, called Spellbound and im not going to recommend that one to you unless you particularly want to read a short story that is basically just vampire porn! I was not aware that that it was it was until I was reading it!!! The first 3 were good though and I would recommend them

I then read Gabriels Inferno by Sylvain Reynard. This one is about a Dante lecturer that is a fallen angel and the innocent girl that falls in love with him. Really good, definitely recommend

My sister then told me I had to read Divergent and sent me an Amazon gift voucher so I was forced to buy it, I also bought the sequel Insurgent. I loved these so much, a brilliant read, I cant recommend them highly enough. I am just sad that the third in the trilogy is not out until next year, I hate that, I am far too impatient and want to know what happens now!

I just started reading Reckless Magic by Rachel Higginson and am halfway through it and loving it. This one was free on Amazon, so if you have a Kindle or Kindle app then you cant go wrong really

Hope you dont mind me spouting on about something other than sewing, I just thought if anyone out there loves reading, its nice to get some recommendations. The next post will be back to sewing I promise

Have you read any of these? what did you think? Oh and by the way, I am not at all linked to or sponsored by Amazon, it just happens to be where I bought them from

Thank you for the recommendations. I used to read all of the time, but haven't found/made time for it again until recently. I find it so relaxing and a good break from everything else.

it looks like we both have a thing for Young Adult Dystopia... i LOVED "hunger games" and am on my third reading of the series. i've got "divergent" on my kindle right now, and also just got a book from the library called "partials"- more YA dystopia :) have you heard of the "matched" series?

Afraid I have not read nor will read Hunger Games etc, just not my bag - must be too old ;( It's great finding a series you love though, my book pile is growing out of control!

Charlotte, we could be reading twins, I love those kind of books. I think it's just the total disconnection from reality! Anything supernatural, and YA is good for me! I also started reading the Game of Thrones series after Christmas, and read all the books back to back, the only thing that got sewn was bee blocks. Completely obsessed...lol!

I read Divergent and Insurgent and liked them too as well as Gabriel's inferno but I can't seem to get interested in the sequel.
I just read Gone Girl which was very suspenseful and I had no idea how it would end but it was a little crazy.
I also liked Beautiful Disaster and Flat Out Love.

I keep thinking I must read The Hunger Games, While College is in full swing I don't have a lot of time for reading, if I have any spare time I spend it beading. I'm staring to catch up now though, I have a huge pile of un-reads next to my bed, although I have managed a few lately.
I recommend 'Room', 'Mister Pip', 'The Elegance of the Hedgehog' and 'The Behavior of Moths'
